Paktia farmers devastated by torrential rain and hail storm

GARDEZ (SW) – Farmers in Paktia province say that their gardens and fields have been destroyed due to heavy rain and hail storm.

They add that after the rain, the flood came and caused huge financial losses to the people.

Residents of Gardiz emphasized that the rain and hail destroyed their fruits and other crops and the flood destroyed the gardens and agricultural lands.

At the same time, the officials of the Department of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock of Paktia admit that the rains and floods have caused huge financial losses to the farmers.

According to the officials, the fields were flooded and the fruits trees were destroyed due to the hailstorm. Officials add that according to the initial reports, about 5000 acres of gardens and fields have been destroyed.

On the other hand, the local officials of Zabul also say that the storm and flooding in the center and some of the districts of this province have caused huge financial losses to the residents. According to the officials, the strong storm has also destroyed the solar power systems.

Rahmatullah Hamad, the head of information and culture of Zabul, acknowledged the damage caused to the residents and says that due to the strong winds, many animals have been lost and agricultural lands have been damaged.

In addition to these two provinces, a number of other provinces have also witnessed heavy rains with floods and strong storms in the past few days, which have caused a lot of damage to the residents.
