Experts say presence of terrorist groups in Afghanistan is concerning

KABUL (SW) – Experts have eexpressed concerns about the Russian Defense Minister’s remarks in regard to the presence of terrorist groups in Afghanistan.

Mahmoud Heydari, a political and intelligence affairs expert, says Russia and the Islamic Emirate have a good relationship, but the United States and some Western countries are training different terrorist groups because of their rivalry with Russia.

He added that the US support for these groups could pose a threat to Russia and Central Asian countries. According to him, there are also reports that these forces are behind the unrest in Balkhab district in Sar-e-Pul province.

“They are afraid that the West will cause problems through Afghanistan, especially to Central Asian countries,” said Hsidari. “The are informing the United States and NATO that they are aware of their conspiracies.”

Haidari points to the presence of groups such as the Islamic State or ISIS, Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Muhammad and others, which he says have the backing of some countries and are being used against Russia’s interests.

Meanwhile, security expert Abdul Ghaffar Gardizi acknowledges Russia’s concerns and believes that the United States and some other Western countries have invested in terrorist groups in Afghanistan that are dangerous to Kabul and Moscow.

This is not the first time that Russian officials have expressed concern about the presence of terrorist groups in Afghanistan.

We wanted to have the view of the Islamic Emirate in this regard, but we did not succeed. However, the Islamic Emirate has always ensured that Afghan territory is not going to be used against other countries.
