“International lenders must complete their pending development”

KABUL (SW) – The international lenders must complete their pending development projects in said, officials of the Islamic Emirate said on Wednesday. 

Officials at the Ministry of Public Works announced today during a press conference in Kabul that a number of road construction projects, bridge construction and retaining walls have been completed in a number of provinces.

Abdul Karim Fateh, technical deputy at the Ministry of Public Works, told the meeting that insecurity and corruption in the country were now over. He called on international organizations and development banks to continue their financial support for projects and complete their pending projects in Afghanistan.

The technical deputy of the Ministry of Public Works added that the companies that had contracts with international banks are now facing many problems and their employees have been in a state of disarray for months.

Officials at the Ministry of Public Works emphasized that a four-member committee has been appointed by the Council of Ministers to review how construction projects proceed. He said about 37 road construction projects are funded by the Islamic Emirate.

After the establishment of the Islamic Emirate in Afghanistan, most of the projects funded by international development banks have been stopped and their employees have not received their salaries for months.
