Anas Haqqani hints at reopening girls’ schools

KHOST CITY (SW) – Anas Haqqani, a senior Islamic Emirate official, on Wednesday pledged that the girls’ schools above grade six would reopen following a grand gathering of the religious scholars.

Anas Haqqani, a member of the Islamic Emirate’s political bureau, said this during a visit to Khost province. He added that he had met with a number of cultural figures and members of civil society in the province. A large gathering of scholars will be held for the opening and closed schools for girls will be reopened, he said.

Haqqani added that girls’ schools above the sixth grade had been temporarily closed in the country. He added that many scholars of the country and the scholars of the Islamic Emirate themselves have said that there is no Shariah problem in the education of girls above the sixth grade in the country and the school will be reopened without any delay.

It has been about eight months since the female students above the sixth grade have not gone to school. Although the Ministry of Education of the Islamic Emirate had promised to reopen all the schools, but it is yet to be realised.
