Senior police officer gunned down in Baghlan

PUL-E-KHUMRI (SW) – Unidentified gunmen have killed a senior Islamic Emirate Police officer in Baghlan province, confirmed officials.

Local sources in Baghlan confirmed to Salam Watandar that unidentified gunmen had shot Maulvi Nooruddin, the provincial police department’s director for crime management.

According to sources, the incident took place last night in Talhabarfak district of Baghlan province. Sources added that unidentified gunmen first brought the director of the Baghlan Police Command out from his home and then shot him.

The cause and motive of this incident have not been clarified yet. Meanwhile, Bakhtiar Moaz, the governor of Baghlan, said that the cause of this incident was personal enmity and announced the beginning of investigations in this regard.

Officials at the Baghlan Police Command say efforts are underway to arrest the perpetrators.
