Lack of a clear foreign policy makes Afghanistan vulnerable to foreign interference

KABUL (SW) – Analysts fear the lack of a clear foreign policy vision by the Islamic Emirate would pave way for even greater foreign interference in Afghanistan.

General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Staff of the Pakistan Army, recently told a meeting on security affairs in Islamabad that if the migration crisis is not resolved through cooperation with Afghanistan, the terrorists might also get the opportunity to carry out attacks such as the 9/11 attacks.

However, political analysts call such remarks by Pakistani officials as an interference in Afghanistan’s affairs and say that Pakistani officials are treating Afghanistan with double standards.

Hamidullah Hotak, a political analyst, criticized the Islamic Emirate for not having a domestic or foreign policy, saying that this has led to Pakistan and other neighbors interfering in Afghanistan’s internal affairs. Hotak added that Pakistan had long lobbied for Afghanistan and shown itself to be a friend, but on the other hand, it is exploiting the plight of the Afghans.

According to him, this is the weakness of the Islamic Emirate, which has not been able to formulate its policy for eight months.

“The neighbors of near and far once introduce Afghanistan to the world as a Muslim nation and then a place for the Daesh terrorists. Why can’t we create domestic and foreign policies of our own? I have asked the leaders of the Islamic Emirate many times and met with them to find out where they are heading and what they are doing in this regard.”

Noor Shah Noorani, another political analyst, said there were no terrorist groups in Afghanistan at the moment, and that Pakistani officials were aiming to carry out another ‘project’ in Afghanistan and, as in the past, take money from foreigners in the name of regional security.

Noorani added that with such statements, Pakistan wants to prove the Islamic Emirate as weak and show the world that the terrorists in Afghanistan are starting to operate under a different name, which is a threat to the world.

We tried to get the reaction of the spokespersons of the Islamic Emirate in this regard, but we did not succeed despite repeated efforts.

On the other hand, the officials of the Islamic Emirate have repeatedly assured foreign countries that no terrorist group is active in Afghanistan and that Afghan territory will never be used against other countries.
