Key electricity transmission towers blown up at Salang Pass

KABUL ( SW) – The power utility, Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat, has announced suspension of electricity supply to a number of provinces after unknown miscreants blew up two transmission towers.

The DABS announced in a newsletter that late on Friday, electricity supply to Kabul and 10 other provinces was cut off due to the explosion of two electricity pylons in the Taghma area of ​​southern Salang, Parwan province.

“Enemies have blown up two electricity pylons for the imported power supply in the Taghma area of ​​southern Salang, Parwan province, which has cut off electricity to Kabul and 10 other provinces,” the company said.

It quoted the company’s technical staff as saying that the towers had been blown up by a landmine, destroying both.

It added that the company’s technical teams have gone to the field to repair these towers. The company has called on all citizens to pay serious attention to the protection of electricity facilities and to prevent destructive attempts by informing local security officials.

On the other hand, Mohammad Aref Ahmadi, the head of DABS in Parwan, told some media that the two electricity poles were blown up by a person in the “Taghmeh” area of ​​Salangha in the middle of Friday night.

According to him, electricity imported to Kabul and more than 10 other provinces has been cut off due to the destruction of power towers. He added that the perpetrator of the explosion was arrested by the forces of the Islamic Emirate.
