Islamic Emirate authorities promise to create 40,000 jobs

KABUL (SW) – The Islamic Emirate authorities promised on Wednesday to have plans chalked out aimed at creating thousands of new jobs.

Mohammad Kamal Afghan, spokesman for the Ministry of Urban Development and Lands, told Salam Watandar that a deal for the construction of 150 factories in the Deh Sabz area of Kabul was to be signed with a foreign company on Thursday.

He added about 40,000 people will get direct and indirect jobs.

According to the spokesman for the Ministry of Urban Development and Lands, these factories will produce more construction materials and will start producing other materials in the future as needed.

“A foreign company wants to invest about $ 216 million in the construction of 150 factories,” said Mohammad Kamal Afghan. “These factories will produce construction materials.”

At the same time, a number of economic experts consider the construction of 150 factories by a foreign investor as an important step, given the current situation in the country.

Taj Mohammad Talash, an expert on economic issues, says building these factories could reduce poverty and unemployment and help turn Afghanistan into a productive country.

“The tax on these factories, which is created with private sector investment and by the private sector, goes to the national income. On the other hand, our production is increasing and it shows the revival of the economic activity in Kabul and builds trust for other investors in Afghanistan. This is an economically beneficial step that paves the way for other actions.”

After the fall of the previous government, many people lost their jobs and now many citizens of the country are struggling with poverty and unemployment.

The World Food Program (WFP) recently reported that 98% of Afghans do not have access to adequate food, and 7 out of 10 households borrow their food.
