Funds sought to revive media houses facing closure

LASHKARGAH (SW) – The Islamic Emirate is seeking international funds to support and revive media houses facing eminent closure, said an official on Sunday.

Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman for the Islamic Emirate and deputy minister of information and culture, said international financial support was sought for the media houses, which were shut down due to monetary problems.

During a meeting in Helmand, Mujahid assured that the media outlets, which had been shut down due to financial and economic problems, would be supported for revival.

Zabihullah Mujahid added that the international community has made a number of commitments to revive and fund the media outlets that have collapsed due to economic difficulties.

He also hoped that next year would be a year of development and progress that would see media houses benefiting via paid commercials.

The spokesman of the Islamic Emirate, Zabihullah Mujahid, while confirming the problems and complaints faced by the local media of Helmand, assured that after the investigation, the existing problems and complaints related to the local media of Helmand will be addressed.

Before the Islamic Emirate came to power, there were a large number of print, audio and video media outlets operating in the country. Since the fall of the previous government, the media, along with various other institutions, collapsed and the remaining one still operating have been faced with many challenges and problems.
