QALAT (SW) – A viral infectious disease is spreading fast in Zabul province causing rashes all over the head of young children.
Zabul health officials say a viral disease has spread in the province that is spreading rapidly, and hundreds of children have been infected so far.
Abdul Hakim Hakimi, Zabul’s director of public health, told Salam Watandar that the virus, which infects children and destroys their hair, has spread to many villages in Shinki district. He added that medical teams have been sent to the area to control and prevent the spread of the disease.
Local officials in Zabul, however, say no deaths have been reported so far; But locals call the virus deadly and say a number of children have died from it.
A number of residents of Shinki district whose children have been infected with the disease say that if a child is infected, a type of seed will form in his head and he will lose his hair.
They emphasized that many children have been infected with the virus and that a cure has not yet been identified. Residents are urging health officials to stop the spread of the disease.
Meanwhile, local officials in Zabul say the disease may have entered Zabul from neighboring countries, and they have begun efforts to control and prevent the spread of the virus. Health officials call personal and environmental hygiene important to prevent the spread of the disease.
