4350 individuals expelled from Islamic Emirate ranks

KABUL (SW) – Thousands of ‘undesirable’ individuals have been sacked and removed from the ranks of the security forces, said a senior Islamic Emirate official on Monday.

Latifullah Hakimi, head of the Islamic Emirate’s ranks clearing commission and defense ministry’s ombudsman, told a news conference in Kabul that after the Islamic Emirate came to power, many ‘undesirable’ people entered the ranks of the Islamic Emirate and extorted money from the people. He said such people have now been expelled.

Hakimi said  the commission has cleared the ranks of the Islamic Emirate in all provinces of the country and expelled 4,350 people, including 135 minors.

“These people were all unarmed. Most of them were ‘Mujahideen’ after the conquest of Kabul they harassed people and extorted money from them. We had to act against them and arrest them. Now the situation is under control and the ranks have been cleared.”

The head of the ranks clearance commission emphasized that the Islamic Emirate forces are thoroughly investigating the number of forces of the Islamic Emirate who fired at civilians at checkpoints instead of stopping their vehicles while on duty.

“These are people who have not been trained, and this is a sign of their incompetence. The policy of the Islamic Emirate is not to hurt its people. These people are being investigated and the Islamic Emirate is committed to preventing such an event”, he said in reference to incidents of security forces firing at vehicles that do not stop at check posts.

In a latest incident on Saturday, the forces fired on a rickshaw at a checkpoint in Kandahar, killing one woman and wounding two others.
