Taliban to fix damaged public property vehicles

PUL-E-KHUMRI (SW) – The Taliban has vowed to repair and revive an array of military and civilian use vehicles in public property that sustained damage during the rages of war.

Dozens of government vehicles, especially in Baghlan, were destroyed or set on fire as a result of clashes between former government forces and the Taliban.

The worn-out remains of these vehicles have been around the Baghlan highways for nearly two months, but now the Taliban in Baghlan has set up a team to collect them.

Maulvi Abdul Rahman, head of the Taliban Reform Commission in Baghlan, said the team has a duty to collect all the destroyed vehicles and move them to a specific location. He says all of these vehicles are to be repaired.

Maulvi Mohammad Ismail Mazhari, a member of the Taliban Reform Commission in Baghlan, said all military equipment was being collected and those who had stolen it were being arrested. Mazhari added that they have nothing to do with the personal property of the people and only the government vehicles are confiscated.

Qari Hedayatullah Hedayat, in charge of the Baghlan Security Command workshop, also said that a team of engineers with advanced equipment was in charge of repairing the vehicles. He added that all vehicles would be repaired and handed over to Taliban forces for use.

Locals have praised the Taliban’s move, saying the presence of these vehicles on the highways had caused traffic accidents.
