HERAT (SW) – The citizens of Herat chanted Allah Akbar last evening from their rooftops to send a clear message of support for the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces and against the Taliban.
At the same time, security forces, commandos and the people’s resistance movement began clearing operations in various parts of western, southern and northern districts in the evening forcing the Taliban to flee to the outskirts of the city.
Herat Governor Abdul Sabur Qaneh, who is on the front lines of the battle, said the Taliban on the outskirts of Herat had been targeted by security forces, killing 24 insurgents and wounding 30 others.
He added that additional forces have arrived in Herat and the situation will improve in the next few days.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Ismail Khan, the leader of the peoples’ resistance movement, which is on the front lines of the war, has said that the current war in Afghanistan is not a war between the Taliban and the government, but a war between Pakistan and the Afghan people. He called on the people to suppress the Taliban, who are ‘Pakistan’s tools’, in a way that would be a lesson to those who support the Taliban.

The source added that government forces stationed on the northern line of the city of Taloqan had left their strongholds and moved to other areas.
Meanwhile, news from Kandahar indicates a reduction in fighting around the city. A security source in Kandahar said that the Taliban who were involved in the war in the province had gone to Helmand to fight.
