Herat governor assures residents of improvement in security

HERAT CITY (SW) – The governor of Herat Abdul Saboor Qaneh has assured residents to the province of the security forces’ abilities to ensure peace and order.

He told a gathering on Saturday that all possible loopholes have been fixed by the security and defense forces in coordination with the uprising forces.

The governor of Herat emphasized that the security and defense forces are currently planning with the uprising forces how to launch offensive attacks on the Taliban in the districts. He assured the people of Herat that the security of the city is now ensured and soon the fallen areas would be recaptured from the insurgents.

Abdul Saboor Qaneh also acknowledged that security forces had withdrawn from 17 districts, including the ports of Islam Qala and Turghandi in the province so far.

Meanwhile, Jamal Abdul Nasser Habibi, a member of the uprising force, said that in the past two days, they have clashed three times with the ‘Red Unit of the Taliban’ in Gozara and Injil districts.

He added that the uprising forces in coordination with the local administration of Herat, are now planning on ways to retake the districts from the Taliban. According to him, these plans and attacks on the Taliban may take several days.
