Taliban attacks leave 11 security forces killed Badakhshan, Herat, and Faryab

KABUL (SW) – Authorities in Badakhshan, Herat and Faryab have reported the killing of at least 11 security forces in Taliban attacks.

In Badakhshan, for instance, the Taliban staged coordinated assault on a check posts in Zebak district early morning on Tuesday killing eight security forces and injuring two others. According to the locals, the insurgents took away all arms and resources from this check post in the Sarshakh area.

Sanaullah Ruhani, spokesman for the police headquarters in the province, said heavy casualties were also inflicted on the Taliban in exchange of fire.

The Taliban have taken responsibility for the attack.

Elsewhere in Herat, the Taliban staged identical assault on a security check post in Ghoriyan district that began with a car bombing.

The governor’s office said two members of the local uprising force lost their lives and 15 others got injured in this incident. It added four homes nearby the check post also got damaged. It added 15 Taliban were also killed by the security forces.

The statement further said in past one month, the Taliban orchestrated at least 40 attacks including four car bombings in Herat that caused heavy human and financial losses.

In Faryab province, Mansur Azizi, commander of a police unit said the Taliban attacked his unit in the Khwaja Sabzposh district last night killing one policeman and injuring two others.

The Taliban have not commented on this incident.
