KABUL (SW) – Health ministry figures suggest at least ten people lost their lives to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.
In its daily round-up, the Ministry of Public Health announced that 113 new positive cases of the coronavirus have been identified. New cases have been registered in 11 provinces. During this time, 29 patients recovered after initially contracting the virus.
It added that 1,137 patients suspected of having coronavirus were tested in this period. With this, it said a total of 393,206 people have been tested for coronavirus across the country since the start of pandemic. Of these, 58,843 people were found to be infected with the virus and 2,582 people have lost their lives due to the infection.
Similarly, 52,392 people have recovered from the onset of the pandemic.
This comes as Iran said Saturday it will suspend flights to and from India to prevent the Indian variant of coronavirus from making inroads into the already stricken country.
“Today we are facing the danger of a new virus, Indian virus,” Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said in statements during a meeting of the anti-coronavirus taskforce in Tehran
