President Ghani vows to avenge killing of soldiers in Behsud

KABUL (SW) – President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has vowed to take revenge of the killings of nine soldiers and pilots killed in helicopter shooting in Behsud district of Maidan Wardak province.

A statement issued by the presidency said Ghani spoke over phone to the families of the victims of the military helicopter crash.

“The president assured the families of the martyrs that revenge will be taken. This crime is unforgivable and will not go unanswered,” the citadel said in a statement.

Earlier, Fawad Aman, deputy spokesman for the Ministry of Defense, said on Saturday the army helicopter was shot down by individuals affiliated with Alipur in Behsud district of Maidan Wardak province killing nine soldiers and pilots. “Investigations by the Ministry of Defense, as well as documents obtained, show that the air force helicopter was targeted by fighters affiliated with Alipur in Behsud district,” the deputy defense ministry spokesman wrote on Twitter.

Aman stressed that the Ministry of Defense would at all costs avenge the blood of those killed and punish its perpetrators
