GHOR (SW) – Protests continued in Ghor on Tuesday for the sacking of provincial governor on the eighth consecutive day.
Hundreds of residents took to the streets and demanded the removal of the provincial governor Noor Mohammad Kouhnvard.
Protesters in Ghor accused the governor of poor governance, discrimination and lack of coordination among various government departments. According to the protesters, security and economic problems have increased in the province since governor Kuhnvard took office.
The protesters chanted slogans for the sacking of the provincial governor. They warned not to stop protesting until the governor of the province is ousted, and threatened to close down the gates of all government offices as their next steps.
A parallel demonstration was staged by the supporters of governor at the same venue. Supporters of Kuhnvard described him as a competent individual.
Noor Mohammad Kuhnvard, the governor of Ghor, called the protests as a civil right, but blamed that the protesters who chanted slogans against him were those who opposed the security forces’ operations and fueled more ethnic divisions in the province.
