KABUL (SW) – At least eight people lost their lives to the coronavirus in Afghanistan in past 24 hours as officials warned of new variants in the country.
The Ministry of Public Health said on Tuesday the new cases were registered in 5 provinces. According to the ministry’s daily report, the death toll from the virus rose to the highest level since past few months.
The Ministry reported in a daily report that the total tests reached to 326,229 while number of confirmed cases reached to 56,454. Among these, it said, 2484 people lost their lives and 51,373 recovered after getting infected.
Meanwhile, officials at the Ministry of Public Health said they have identified at least seven cases of the new variants of coronavirus in the country. This came days after the MoPH established new center to detect the new variants of the virus.
