American troops target Taliban in air raid in Kandahar

KABUL (SW) – The US Forces – Afghanistan (USFOR-A) on Wednesday claimed to have targeted the Taliban in an aerial raid in Kandahar province.

The USFOR-A spokesman Col. Sonny Leggett said the raid was aimed at the Taliban who were attacking the Afghan forces. “USFOR-A conducted airstrikes w/in the last 48 hrs targeting TB fighters actively attacking & maneuvering on ANDSF (Afghan National Defense and Security Forces) positions in Zharay, Spin Boldak & Kandahar Districts, Kandahar”, he said while rejecting the Taliban claim of this raid being a violation of the Doha deal.

“TB (Taliban) claims otherwise are false. The US continues to defend ANDSF in accordance w/ the US-TB agreement”, he said.

Earlier, the Taliban charged the American troops in Afghanistan for violating the February 2020 peace accord, and killing ‘scores of Taliban’ in aerial raid in Kandahar province. “We strongly condemn such crimes and bombardments by the ‘US invaders’ this is clear violation of the Doha Agreement and can never be justified”, said Zabihullah Mujahed, a spokesman for the insurgents.
