My name is Sahar Rahimi. Like many other girls my age, I had big dreams for my future. After graduating from high school, I studied hard for the Kankor exam. My goal was clear: I wanted to study English at the Faculty of Literature at university. When the results came out and I found out that I had passed the exam, I felt as if the whole world belonged to me. I was full of hope and wanted to begin my university journey so that I could build a better future for myself.
However, things did not go as I had thought they would. When universities were closed to girls, this great and vital opportunity was suddenly taken away from me.
It was not easy for me to accept this situation. I had always loved learning, education, and personal growth. Suddenly, I felt as if I had reached a crisis. However, I believed that when one path closes, we should not lose hope. I told myself that I must not give up. I had to make the most of the opportunities still available to me and find other ways to continue learning. During this search, I became familiar with a new tool that has been changing many people’s lives: Artificial Intelligence (AI).
We live in a time when technology is developing very quickly. Tools that seemed like miracles or something from a science fiction story just a few years ago have now become part of our daily lives. AI has changed the way we study, work, and even think. My introduction to AI was gradual. At first, I thought it was just a simple search engine that answered basic questions. However, when I started using it in practice, I realized that it could do much more than I had imagined.
The biggest impact of AI on my life has been in education. As someone who was eager to learn English, I now had a full-time teacher available at home.
Tools like AI became helpful tools for me. Whenever I face a complex grammar rule or a difficult text that I cannot fully understand, I ask AI to explain it in simple language and give me plenty of examples. This helps me feel more confident and continue learning without fear. AI helps me correct my writing mistakes, understand grammar, learn new words, and practise conversations, just like a patient teacher who stands by my side.
Of course, AI is useful for much more than learning languages. Today, it can help us write different kinds of texts, translate documents, develop ideas, create graphic designs, and plan our daily activities. AI has made information and knowledge more widely available and easier to access. In the past, when we had a question, we often had to spend hours searching through books or looking for an expert. Now, we can get initial answers within seconds.
However, one important point must be remembered: AI can never fully replace books, universities, or real teachers, and it should not. This tool is most useful when we use it alongside our own studies and independent thinking. I have learned not to use AI simply to get ready-made answers, but to understand how things work. I ask it to explain a topic step by step and then quiz me to check my understanding. In this way, I remain actively involved in my own learning.
Learning with AI also has its challenges. Sometimes, AI makes mistakes or provides incomplete or misleading information. Therefore, we should not accept everything it tells us without doing research. Depending too much on AI can also be dangerous. If students let a machine do all their work, they may lose their ability to analyze information and solve problems. AI should strengthen our minds, not make us lazy.
Finally, I want to tell all girls and youth that although these restrictions are difficult, we must not lose our desire to learn. Technology has crossed borders. With just a smartphone and an internet connection, a girl can learn a language, develop new skills, and plan for her future.
Success depends on our own efforts and determination. AI cannot work miracles, but it can make the path to learning smoother. Let us use these tools properly and responsibly, and never lose hope of building a better future.
