The United Nations has expressed serious concern over the rising violence between Afghanistan and Pakistan, warning about its growing impact on civilians.
Stephane Dujarric, spokesperson for the United Nations, said in a press briefing that Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is “deeply concerned” about the recent increase in clashes along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border.
Dujarric added that the Secretary-General is closely watching the situation and is urging both sides to agree to an immediate ceasefire and resolve their differences through dialogue to prevent more harm to civilians.
The UN has repeatedly called on all parties to put civilian safety first and to work toward peaceful solutions.
