According to reports, around 11:00 p.m. on Saturday (Feb. 21), Pakistan carried out airstrikes in parts of Paktika and Nangarhar provinces, resulting in the deaths and injuries of dozens of people, including women and children.
Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, wrote early Sunday (Feb. 22) on his X account that Afghan civilians were bombed in Nangarhar and Paktika, killing and injuring dozens of people, and accused Pakistani generals of attempting to compensate for their country’s security weaknesses through such actions.
The Ministry of Defense, in a statement issued on Sunday, also condemned the airstrikes, describing them as a clear violation of Afghanistan’s national sovereignty, international law, principles of good neighborliness, and Islamic values, and emphasized that protecting the country’s territory and ensuring public security are its religious and national responsibilities, adding that an appropriate and measured response will be given at the proper time.
