The Department for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice in Parwan says it has burned nearly 500 musical instruments in the province.
Officials said they collected the instruments from various districts before setting them on fire. The department stated that the action aimed to enforce religious rulings and prevent what it described as inappropriate practices in society.
Authorities also called on residents to refrain from keeping, buying, selling, or using musical instruments and urged them to cooperate in handing over such items.
Last solar year, the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice under the Islamic Emirate reported that it destroyed 21,328 musical instruments and 30,000 films it labeled “immoral” in Kabul and other provinces within one year.
