MONITORING (SW) – At least 91 Afghan citizens who were imprisoned in Pakistan have been released, the Ministry of Repatriations and Refugees (MoRR) under the Islamic Emirate said.
According to a statement by the ministry, these citizens have returned to Afghanistan on Thursday and Friday, January 30th and 31st.
The ministry also reported that, based on information from the border authorities at Torkham in Nangarhar and Spin Buldak in Kandahar, these individuals were detained in various parts of Pakistan due to lack of proper documentation.
They had been held at the “Haji Camp” prison for periods ranging from 2 to 27 days, the statement added.
“After receiving humanitarian assistance, the detainees were transferred back to their home regions,” it said.
This is despite the fact that Afghan migrants in Pakistan continue to endure daily arrests and the constant threat of deportation.
“The Pakistani government has changed its behavior for political reasons,” Wahida Bayat, an Afghan migrant in Pakistan, told Salam Watandar.
Many other migrants in Pakistan, say they are living in very difficult conditions, lacking even basic necessities such as food, water, and shelter.
