Security officials in Khost have confirmed the arrest of two suspects linked to the killing of 10 family members in the Alisher district of the province.
Mustaghfar Gurbaaz, spokesperson for the Khost governor, told Salam Watandar that the two individuals were considered “highly suspicious” and were apprehended on Wednesday morning.
Gurbaaz added that investigations into the suspects are ongoing, and the case will be handed over to the judicial authorities once the investigation is complete.
Preliminary information, according to Gurbaaz, suggests that the attack was the result of a personal dispute.
Earlier, the Khost provincial government issued a statement to the media, reporting that unknown gunmen opened fire on the family around 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 28, in the Abu Khana area of Alisher district, killing 10 family members.
Among the victims were women and children.
Local officials confirmed that security forces have launched an investigation into the incident.
