Roza Otunbayeva, the head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), has stated that development aid to Afghanistan has increased compared to humanitarian assistance.
On Wednesday, in a statement on its X account the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate announced that Otunbayeva raised this issue during her meeting with Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi.
Ms. Otunbayeva, highlighted that UN development assistance to Afghanistan will continue.
The statement reads, “Otunbayeva committed to sharing the economic achievements of the Islamic Emirate at international meetings.”
In the meeting, FM Muttaqi, said that Afghanistan has achieved economic stability, and development programs are being implemented that, once fully executed, will lead to rapid economic growth in the country.
Previously, Din Mohammad Hanif, the Acting Minister of Economy under the Islamic Emirate, had called on the United Nations to focus more on implementing development projects in Afghanistan this year to help reduce poverty levels in the country.
