MONITORING (SW) – The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) in Afghanistan says that it requires 718 million dollars to continue its operations in the next six months.
In a statement released on Tuesday, December 17, on its X account, the WFP noted that a large number of Afghan citizens are facing difficulties in meeting their food needs.
According to the WFP, the distribution of winter aid has begun for over six million Afghan citizens.
The organization added that 1.5 million of these individuals live in Badakhshan, Bamyan, Ghor, and Daikundi provinces, and 62,000 tons of food will be distributed to them.
Previously, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Afghanistan had announced that $3.06 billion is needed to provide assistance to the vulnerable population in Afghanistan, of which 37.5% has already been secured.
