MoPVPV shuts down Arezo TV, defends move as safeguarding Islamic values

KABUL (SW) – The Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice (MoPVPV) of the Islamic Emirate has announced the closure of Arezo TV for a series of “violations”.

According to the ministry, Arezo TV was shut down on Wednesday as part of efforts to “preserve” Islamic values, prevent media exploitation, and strengthen the social system.

In a statement released on Thursday via its X account, the ministry revealed that certain individuals had been misusing the name of Arezo TV.

The statement further detailed that these individuals were involved in dubbing non-Islamic series and programs with the support of foreign media outlets.

“After extensive investigation, it was discovered that some individuals, under the name of Arezo TV and using the building of this media outlet, had hired unprofessional staff to translate immoral series against Islamic and Afghan values, with the support of exiled media.”

The Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice has urged all media outlets to operate in accordance with Islamic principles and the national interests of Afghanistan.
