MONITORING (SW) – The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) announced that Kuwait has donated 500,000 US dollars to the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund.
In a statement released on Monday, November 18, on its X account, the agency confirmed that this is Kuwait’s first $500,000 contribution to the fund in 2024.
OCHA added that the donation will be used to address the urgent needs of the most vulnerable individuals in emergency situations.
So far this year, countries such as Sweden, the Netherlands, Spain, Norway, the United Kingdom, Canada, and several others have contributed to the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund.
Previously, the UN humanitarian office had reported that 79% of families in Afghanistan will not have enough fuel to heat their homes during the upcoming winter.
OCHA also stated that it is facing a funding shortfall of $3.14 billion to support these individuals.
