MONITORING (SW) – Hekmatullah Maiwandi, the spokesperson for the Afghanistan Electricity Supply Company/ Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS), announced that a power purchase agreement with Tajikistan for 2025 has been signed.
On Monday, November 25, via his X account, he stated that the agreement was signed between Abdul Bari Omar, the CEO of DABS, and Mohammad Omar Assazada, the head of the Tajikistan National Electricity Company (Barqi Tojik).
According to statement, the agreement has been signed in Turkey.
Maiwandi added that the deal will help meet Afghanistan’s electricity needs, as the country imports up to 70% of its electricity from neighboring countries, including Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Iran.
