MoFA welcomes Kyrgyzstan removing Islamic Emirate from list of “proscribed groups”

KABUL (SW) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the de-facto government has welcomed Kyrgyzstan removing the Islamic Emirate from its list of “proscribed groups”.

Abdul Qahar Balkhi, spokesperson for the ministry, shared this update on Thursday, via a post on his X account.

The statement reads: “Aligning with actions of other countries, the step taken by Kyrgyzstan signifies a growing political recognition of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan on both regional and international levels, and removes a barrier to strengthening bilateral relations between the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan & other countries.”

However, no further reports have been released about the specifics of the Islamic Emirate’s removal from the Kyrgyzstan list of banned groups.

Previously, Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev had also announced that his country removed the Islamic Emirate from its banned list to foster economic relations with Afghanistan.
