Uzbekistan pledges to support Afghan exports

KABUL (SW) – Uzbekistan’s Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov has said that Afghanistan has an important place in Uzbekistan’s foreign policy, and his country is ready to expand trade and transit relations with the Islamic Emirate to export fresh fruits from Afghanistan to Central Asian countries.

The presidential palace (ARG) said in a statement on its X account on Thursday, that Aripov raised the issue with Abdul Ghani Baradar, the deputy prime minister for economic affairs of the de-facto Islamic Emirate government, on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the Termez International Trade Center.

Uzbekistan wants to expand the Hairatan-Herat railway network and start work on the project in September this year, it added.

Uzbekistan is ready to work with the Islamic Emirate in the field of gas extraction and construction of retaining walls along the Amu Darya coast, the statement said.

According to the statement, Abdul Ghani Baradar said that the Islamic Emirate is ready to cooperate with Uzbekistan to implement projects in Afghanistan.

Abdul Ghani Baradar, the deputy prime minister for economic affairs of the Islamic Emirate, left for Uzbekistan on Thursday, to attend the opening ceremony of the Termez International Trade Center.

Uzbekistan, which neighbors Afghanistan, has good political and trade relations with the Islamic Emirate, and Uzbekistan officials had announced during their visit to Kabul that they wanted to invest in various sectors in Afghanistan and increase their trade with Afghanistan to $3 billion.
