KABUL (SW) – Officials from the Ministry of Economy announced that they have implemented 2,194 projects through the non-governmental organizations in the past one year.
According to the ministry’s officials, these projects, including humanitarian, emergency, and semi-developmental initiatives, have been implemented through both domestic and international NGOs, creating employment opportunities for over 200,000 individuals.
On Thursday, during the accountability program held in Kabul, officials presented the annual achievements of the ministry.
Key accomplishments over the past one year include the development of a five-year national development strategy, analysis of agricultural, industrial, trade, education, and health sectors, the creation of an economic perspective of work, monitoring of non-governmental organizations (NGOs), environmental and social impact assessments of projects, and active participation in national and international meetings.
Additionally, officials revealed that around 1,338 projects, with a total value of approximately 1.8 billion dollars, are currently underway.
Overall, there are 2,477 NGOs operating in Afghanistan, including 2,199 domestic and 278 international organizations.
The de-facto Ministry of Economy also highlighted that over the past one year, 159 domestic NGOs and 14 international NGOs were registered, while the licenses of 315 domestic and 60 international NGOs were renewed.
