MONITORING (SW) – The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Afghanistan announced that Canada has contributed 2.2 million dollars to the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund.
This announcement was made on Wednesday, via a statement on OCHA’s official X account, though the specific allocation of these funds has not been detailed.
OCHA noted that since 2019, Canada has donated a total of $15.8 million to the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund.
Previously, OCHA expressed concern about the shortage of funding necessary to meet the needs of the Afghan population, stating that approximately 23 million people in Afghanistan require humanitarian assistance this year (2024).
