KABUL (SW) – Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov has accepted Fazel Mohammad Saber as the Charge d’Affaires of the Afghanistan embassy in Ashgabat, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the de-facto government of the Islamic Emirate announced.
Abdul Qahar Balkhi, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, quoted Meredov on his social media account, saying, “Turkmenistan and Afghanistan are planning to implement major projects, thus upgrading diplomatic relations is an important step.”
According to the spokesperson, Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister expressed hope that, through joint diplomatic efforts, practical work on the “TAPI, TAP, and Torghundi-Herat railway projects” would commence soon.
It is noteworthy that several other regional countries have also handed over Afghanistan’s embassies to the Islamic Emirate. Among them, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan have established close political and commercial ties with the Islamic Emirate.
