Thousands of Afghan citizens return from Iran and Pakistan

KABUL (SW) – In the past two days, a total of 5,855 Afghan citizens have returned to Afghanistan, both voluntarily and involuntarily, from Iran and Pakistan.

On Monday, the Ministry of Repatriations and Refugees (MoRR) announced that 5,133 individuals returned from Iran via the Islam Qala border crossing in Herat and the Silk Bridge route in Nimruz province.

Additionally, the ministry reported that 722 individuals returned from Pakistan through the Torghundi and Spin Buldak border crossings.

Among the returnees, there were 174 Afghan citizens who had been imprisoned in Pakistan.

According to MoRR’s statement, these individuals have been registered and referred to the offices of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to receive assistance.

As per the latest statistics provided by the Ministry of Repatriations and Refugees, since the beginning of the current solar year, more than 440,000 Afghan citizens have returned to Afghanistan from Iran and Pakistan.
