Approximately 12,000 Afghan citizens return from Iran, Pakistan in past four days

KABUL (SW) – In the past four days, a total of 11,997 Afghan citizens have returned from Iran and Pakistan, both voluntarily and involuntarily, according to the Ministry of Repatriations and Refugees (MoRR).

In a statement posted on its official X account, the ministry reported on Saturday, that 10,645 individuals returned from Iran through the “Silk Bridge” route in Nimruz and border crossing of Islam Qala in Herat province.

The ministry added that another 1,352 individuals returned through the Spin Buldak and Torkham border crossings from Pakistan.

These individuals have been registered and referred to the offices of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugee (UNHCR) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to receive assistance.

According to the latest statistics provided by the MoRR, a total of 115,000 Afghan citizens have returned from Iran and Pakistan in the past month alone.
