UNICEF builds two schools in Ghazni with financial support of Japan

GHAZNI CITY (SW) – The foundation stones for two new schools were laid in Ghazni province located in southeastern Afghanistan.

These schools are set to be built in Qarabagh district at a total cost of 19 million Afghanis.

Miagul Sediq, the Director of Publications for Ghazni’s Directorate of Education, told Salam Watandar that construction began on Tuesday, on the schools in the villages of Barla and Spin Kariz areas in Qarabagh district.

The schools are expected to be completed and operational by the end of the year.

According to Sediq, each school will have 6 and 12 classrooms, providing educational opportunities for approximately 2,000 students in the district.

He further said that these schools are being built by the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) with financial support from Japan.

Additionally, construction of two other schools in the Zanakhan and Khogyani districts of Ghazni commenced earlier this week.
