MoFA monitoring Germany’s decision to deport Afghan migrants

KABUL (SW) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate has declared that it is closely monitoring Germany’s decision to deport Afghan migrants and hopes that the issue can be managed diplomatically.

On Friday, spokesperson for the ministry Abdul Qahar Balkhi stated on his official X account, “Afghan citizens should not be subjected to an uncertain fate and handed over to a third country contrary to accepted international conventions.”

He urged the Germany government to address this matter within the framework of normal consular interactions and based on bilateral agreements.

This announcement comes in the wake of an incident in Mannheim, Germany, where the last week, an Afghan citizen attacked a gathering, resulting in the death of a police officer and injuries to six others.

Following this incident, Germany declared that it is considering the deportation of some Afghan migrants.

On Thursday, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz mentioned in the country’s parliament that Afghan and Syrian asylum seekers who are deemed criminals will be expelled from Germany.
