Four major economic projects to launch in Herat

HERAT CITY (SW) – Officials from the Directorate of Mines and Petroleum in Herat have announced the upcoming inauguration of four major economic projects in the province.

Enayatullah Amini, the Head of Inspection at the Directorate of Mines and Petroleum in Herat, stated that the forthcoming projects include a cement project, the Ghorian iron ore blocks, the Pashtun Zarghun iron ore mine, and a coal mine.

The estimated timeline and costs for the completion of these projects have not yet been clarified.

Amini highlighted that 200 workers are currently engaged in the preliminary phases of the Herat Cement Project, which is expected to officially commence operations soon with an investment of $265 million.

According to Amini, there are 34 mines in Herat province, out of which 26 mines, including sand mining, are currently operational.
