Analysts urge Islamic Emirate to expedite diplomatic maneuvers for welfare of Afghanistan

KABUL (SW) – As the third Doha meeting approaches, political and international relations experts emphasize that the Islamic Emirate must seize the opportunity to address Afghanistan’s challenges through diplomatic means.

Ajmal Zurmati, an international relations expert, highlighted the current open doors for dialogue to resolve Afghanistan’s issues, stressing the need for the Islamic Emirate to take the advantages from this opportunity.

He said, “We are still in political isolation; major countries emphasize diplomacy regarding Afghanistan. The gates of dialogue and diplomacy are now open for Afghanistan. The risk intensifies when these diplomatic avenues close and we cannot take advantage of this opportunity.”

Rosemary DiCarlo, the United Nations Deputy Secretary-General for Political Affairs hosting the Doha talks, confirmed that the Islamic Emirate’s government recognition will not be discussed at the upcoming conference.

Amir Khan Muttaqi, the de-facto Acting Foreign Minister, expressed readiness for discussions on economic matters and drug trafficking at the Doha talks.

However, Analyts express concern over the lack of formal recognition of the Islamic Emirate, urging the United Nations and the Islamic Emirate to work towards reintegrating Afghanistan into the international community.

Aziz Stanekzai, a political analyst, emphasized, “The Islamic Emirate must break its red lines, and the UN should engage more proactively with Afghanistan to achieve international recognition and solve the people’s problems in the near future.”

In the past three years, various meetings on Afghanistan, including two in Doha, have been held, yet they have not provided solutions to Afghanistan’s problems or facilitated its return to the international community.
