KABUL (SW) – In a significant development towards achieving self-sufficiency in salt production, the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum held a bidding session for the salt mines in Darzab Block (4.5 square kilometer), Andkhoy Block (4.5 sq km), and Maimana’s (5.25 sq km) in Faryab province.
The bidding session took place on Tuesday, in Kabul city.
The acting Minister Shahabuddin Delawar emphasized that once these salt mines are extracted and processed, Afghanistan will be self-sufficient in salt production from domestic sources.
He stated, “With their extraction, we will achieve self-sufficiency. Anyone transporting salt from these mines must pay the government, and no one can transfer salt without making the payment.”
The results of the bidding will be announced to the winning companies after the proposals are evaluated by the Economic Committee of the Prime Minister’s Office of the Islamic Emirate.
Participants in the bidding session urged the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum to ensure transparency during the evaluation of the bidding companies’ proposals.
