MONITORING (SW) – An Afghan citizen has been arrested in Germany for stabbing a woman. This individual was apprehended on charges of attacking a Ukrainian woman with a knife in the city of Frankfurt.
The incident took place on Monday, June 10, along the banks of the “Main River” in Frankfurt.
Deutsche Welle reported that the Afghan man attacked the woman, severely injuring her.
Witnesses responded to the woman’s cries for help, and the attacker fled the scene. However, with the assistance of a helicopter, the police were able to track, identify, and eventually arrest the suspect.
German media outlets have identified the attacker as a 19-year-old Afghan national, though further details about him have not been released.
The motive for the attack remains unclear.
This incident follows a recent attack involving another Afghan national in Germany. A 25-year-old Afghan man was arrested for stabbing attendees at an anti-political Islam group event in Mannheim, Germany, resulting in the death of a police officer and injuries to five others.
These attacks have sparked outrage among German officials.
Olaf Scholz, the Chancellor of Germany, stated last Thursday that criminals, regardless of their origin, should be expelled from the country, even if they come from Syria or Afghanistan.
On Friday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate declared that it is closely monitoring Germany’s decision to deport Afghan migrants and hopes that the issue can be managed diplomatically.
“Afghan citizens should not be subjected to an uncertain fate and handed over to a third country contrary to accepted international conventions.”
The de-facto authorities urged the Germany government to address this matter within the framework of normal consular interactions and based on bilateral agreements.
