Islamic Emirate urges countries not pursue ISIS in Afghanistan

KABUL (SW) – The spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, Zabihullah Mujahid, has reacted to recent comments by US President Joe Biden regarding the control of ISIS in Afghanistan from a distance.

The Islamic Emirate has urged other countries not to pursue ISIS within Afghanistan, emphasizing that the group is already in retreat.

In controversial statements, President Joe Biden referred to Afghanistan as the “graveyard of empires,” asserting that its citizens will never unite. He further suggested that there are alternative ways to monitor ISIS without occupying Afghanistan.

During a joint press conference with Kenyan President William Ruto, Biden stated, “Afghanistan is known as the graveyard of empires; it is unlikely that anyone will unite Afghanistan. Secondly, there are ways to monitor ISIS without occupying Afghanistan.”

Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, confirmed Afghanistan’s reputation as the graveyard of empires but refuted the notion that its citizens are disunited. He also claimed that ISIS is in retreat.

Mujahid said, “Concerns about ISIS are unfounded; when the Americans were here, ISIS emerged, established bases, and conducted operations and crimes. When the Americans left Afghanistan, ISIS was defeated and is now in retreat. There is no need for any country to pursue them.”

Other experts emphasize that any efforts to combat ISIS and prevent its threats require cooperation with Afghanistan. Another security analyst Aziz Stanekzai suggested, “The US can control ISIS through Pakistan by sharing intelligence with both Pakistan and Afghanistan, as well as by providing financial cooperation to prevent the advancement of ISIS and other destructive groups.”

Meanwhile, Sergey Naryshkin, head of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service, stated at a Commonwealth of Independent States meeting that ISIS and Al-Qaeda are products of US and British intelligence plans. He emphasized that these two countries are cooperating with several terrorist groups to destabilize Afghanistan.
