KABUL (SW) – A high-ranking delegation from the Central Bank of Afghanistan/ Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB) has traveled to Malaysia to attend the annual International Forum of Islamic Economy and Finance.
The conference is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday and will focus on the development of Islamic banking.
Hasibullah Noori, the spokesperson for DAB, stated that representatives from central banks of various countries would participate in the conference. The participants will discuss topics related to the development of Islamic banking, strengthening small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), issues concerning Sukuk (Islamic bond or “Sharia-compliant” bond), and the development of financial markets.
“In this conference, representatives from central banks and financial institutions from different countries around the world are invited to participate. The attendees will discuss the development of Islamic banking, the strengthening of SMEs, and issues related to Sukuk and financial market development,” Noori said.
In addition to attending the conference, the Islamic Emirate’s delegation will visit the International Sharia Research Academy for Islamic banking, the International Islamic Banking and Financing and University of Malaysia, and other relevant institutions in the country.
The Central Bank reiterated its commitment to promoting Islamic banking throughout Afghanistan, aiming to establish an interest-free banking system.
