KABUL (SW) – Antonio Guterres, the Secretary General of the United Nations, said that Afghanistan has made progress in security, fight against corruption, prevention of poppy planting and drug production.

According to Guterres, however, Afghanistan needs more work in other contexts.

On Tuesday, Guterres wrote on X that the international community must continue its efforts to ensure that the needs and rights of all Afghan citizens are among the priorities of the de-facto government.

Three months before, in a report, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime has also stated that after the ban on poppy cultivation in Afghanistan, the production of narcotics in this country has decreased by 95%.
