New terminal for inter-province travellers

KABUL (SW) – Officials at the Ministry of Transportation and Civil Aviation say that new standard terminals are being built in Kabul for the inter-province passenger busses.

According to them, they have a plan for the construction of new terminals and the work on its implementation is going on.

Imamuddin Ahmadi, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Transportation and Civil Aviation, told Salam Watandar that in order to reduce the traffic congestion in Kabul city, new standard terminals are to be built outside the city and the stations of the provincial passenger cars and buses will be moved to these terminals.

The spokesman of this ministry adds: “These sections are traditional stations and like the North Terminal, we collaborate with the private sector to build new terminals in different parts of Kabul far from the city.”

Meanwhile, officials of a number of ground transportation companies say that with the construction of new standard terminals in Kabul, more facilities will be provided to them.

Abdul Rahim Safi, the manager of one of the ground transportation companies, says: “Now that the station and terminal are established, the passenger’s property and life are safe, and we can transfer a passenger to a certain place in his province.”

Mukhtar, the manager of another land transportation company, also says that by building new standard terminals, all the rules and standards of land transportation must be observed.

He adds: “First of all, the principles of cars that move to the provinces should be observed and restaurants and accommodation should be provided for passengers. This is not the case now, and if it is made as a standard, we will be grateful and people will be happy.”
