Afghan refugees share tales of harassment in Pakistan

KABUL (SW) – A number of Afghan migrants at the Chaman crossing say that the Pakistani police do not allow them to cross to Afghanistan for unclear reasons, and they are facing a shortage of water and food.

Some of these immigrants told Salam Watandar on the phone that the Pakistani police have taken all their property and they have no money to buy food for themselves and their children.

Zer Wali, one of the Afghan migrants who has been stuck at the Chaman crossing near the Durand Line for the past two days, told Salam Watandar that the Pakistani police have taken all his money.

He adds: “Pakistani police took all my money, told me that you have no right to take extra money with you, more than 50,000 kaldars. I had a car, the police came to my house like a thief and took my car.”

He says that he and his family have spent the past day with hunger. According to him, that evening, the residents of the area helped them with food.

Afghan migrants say that the Pakistani police do not allow the residents of Chaman to help the migrants.
