KABUL (SW) – In response to the concern of Central Asian countries about the threat of terrorism and drugs and linking the current situation in Afghanistan to these issues, the Islamic EEmirate authorities say that terrorism, especially ISIS, has decreased to “one percent” in Afghanistan.
Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesman of the Islamic Emirate, told Salam Watandar that the Islamic Emirate assures the countries of Central Asia in the fight against terrorism and other challenges.
The spokesman of the Islamic Emirate adds: “Two years of the Islamic Emirate proved that no country has suffered from us. Central Asian countries in particular should not be afraid. We don’t want insecurity in the region, ISIS is in danger of being completely destroyed and it has decreased from a few percent to one percent, and efforts are underway to completely destroy them.”
Meanwhile, the secretaries of the National Security Councils of the Central Asian countries and India, on Tuesday, in their second meeting in the city of Astana, Kazakhstan, claimed that international terrorism and drug trafficking are largely related to the current situation in Afghanistan.
Gizat Nordoltov, assistant to the president and secretary of the National Security Council of Kazakhstan, said: “Our countries are facing a number of pressing common challenges that require concerted efforts; including international terrorism, drug trafficking, and these risks are largely related to the current situation in Afghanistan.”
In this meeting, India also said that finding a solution to the current problems in Afghanistan is the country’s priority. Ajit Doval, India’s National Security Adviser, said in this meeting that creating an inclusive government and fighting terrorism is important for India.
On the other hand, experts also say that the concern of the countries in the region is deep because the stability in Afghanistan has a direct effect on the stability in the countries of the region.
Salim Paighir, an expert on political issues, says: “They are very concerned that Afghanistan does not turn from political instability to military and economic instability and once again become the center of war between big countries.”
Abdul Jabbar Akbari, an expert on international relations, also says: “Afghanistan’s stability is the stability of Central Asian countries. We must assure the neighboring countries that these groups will not be accommodated in Afghanistan, so that doubts and ambiguities are removed and an atmosphere of trust is created.”
Mr. Akbari adds that the statements of the Indian officials in this meeting that solving the current problems of Afghanistan is a priority for India, and shows the country’s desire to be closer to Afghanistan.
He emphasized: “India wants to play a vital role in the countries of the region and is trying to get closer to Afghanistan, but it is trying to have diplomatic relations, it wants to be a potential threat to the face of Pakistan.”
The first joint meeting between India and Central Asian countries regarding Afghanistan was held in India where the participants emphasized on the formation of an inclusive government.
